Which follow-up information should travel home with you?
Keep a written record of each tooth's procedure, dates, implant or restoration details and any unfinished temporary stage. Store care instructions, review timing and the urgent contact channel together. Be clear whether the next review is remote or in person.
A photograph may show visible swelling or a fracture, but gum measurements, bite assessment and some internal problems require examination. Do not spend days waiting for a message reply if pain or movement develops. Share records if a local clinician needs to assess you and ask how information can pass between the teams. Continued care abroad should be planned before departure rather than first discussed after something has gone wrong.
What if a problem develops after returning?
Tell the treating team your symptoms and when they began, and seek local examination when needed. Do not wait for a remote reply with emergency symptoms. Discuss responsibility for additional treatment, travel and costs in writing at the outset.
